Teeth Whitening and Bonding
What if my teeth are discolored?
At South Florida Laser Dentistry we provide teeth whitening services. Teeth whitening is a safe, effective and relatively easy means of producing a whiter smile. There are multiple options to teeth whitening. The easiest method is a 1 hour in office treatment. This is done at our office with a safe, effective plasma arch light. The second is an at home treatment, not to be confused with over-the-counter bleaching products available in local Tamarac and Coral Springs and surrounding Broward County, Florida area stores. The difference between the two is the strength of the whitening agent and the time it takes to get effective results. The home treatments are done by inserting a special gel into a molded tray, created specifically for your mouth by Dr. Pomerantz. It is important to note that sensitive teeth, or those that are chipped, eroded or weakened by cavities, should be repaired or protected before they are whitened.
What is Bonding?
Dr. Pomerantz has found bonding to be a very effective method to enhance a smile. After treating the tooth surface a putty-like bonding material is applied to the tooth. It is then sculpted, shaped and colored to suit your needs. A high‑ intensity light causes the plastic to harden and allows Dr. Pomerantz to shape and polish the tooth. This is what gives the tooth that natural look. Bonding can lighten stains, close gaps and even alter crooked or malformed teeth. At South Florida Laser Dentistry we even use this technique to change the shape or color of a single tooth.
